About TransCentralPA

TransCentralPA's Mission

TransCentralPA is committed to providing advocacy and caring support for transgender and non-binary individuals, their significant others, families, friends and allies. TransCentralPA also provides gender education and information to businesses, organizations, educational institutions and governmental agencies.

Our History

TransCentralPA was formerly known as the Lower Susquehanna Valley Chapter of Renaissance and has been serving the Trans-community since 1989. In 2006, the group broke from Renaissance and reestablished itself as an individual entity to better serve the needs of its members and the community.

What We Do

TransCentralPA is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to serving the transgender community in and around Central Pennsylvania.
  • We host monthly meetings to provide a safe and nurturing place for members and guests to meet together to better understand, accept and take pride & joy in their lives.
  • We plan and organize outings and events where our members and guests can feel safe.
  • We host the Keystone Conference, one of the largest transgender conferences in the country. Each March we welcome approximately 750 trans and non-binary individuals and their supporters and loved ones from across the United States and from around the world to Harrisburg each year in March.
  • We host the Keystone Family Retreat, focused on building community and meeting the needs that families have when raising trans and non-binary children. This annual event in October is focused on providing opportunities to learn and network with each other.
  • We participate with and support other LGBTQ+ activities and organizations.
  • We organize educational events, sponsoring and hosting prominent transgender leaders, speakers and organizations in the Central Pennsylvania area.
  • We maintain an informative website that lists various transgender resources, activities, events, and conferences as well as local trans-friendly businesses and services.
  • We work with other trans-supportive organizations to coordinate and clarify policies affecting the transgender community in Pennsylvania.
